The Environmental Protection Agency engaged several small to medium-sized drought-impacted utilities to identify lessons learned and outline effective strategies to increase resilience to drought. Rock Creek visited six utilities across the US in California, Texas, Georgia, Kansas, and Oklahoma which had faced and overcome drought to share their stories as part of a larger Drought Response and Recovery initiative. In this example, which takes place in the City of Las Vegas, New Mexico, persistent drought required a multi-faceted approach.
As part of this effort, we also produced overview videos on Managing Water Supplies, Reducing Customer Water Demand, and Building Community Partnerships. More information may be found at: https://www.epa.gov/waterutilityresponse/drought-response-and-recovery-water-utilities
