Working with Aspen X

Rock Creek was busy in 2017 working on a variety of projects in support of the Aspen Institute’s Youth & Engagement Programs capturing interviews and gathering footage to create social media and promotional videos.

In March, we followed a group of high school students through tours in and around DC, highlighted by a curated visit to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, and we spent a day with the students at the Gala Theater in Mt. Pleasant as they engaged on issues of Race and Equity.

Nationals Park was a beautiful setting for our next gig with Aspen Youth and Engagement.  Over 300 high school students participated in One Day University – interacting with college students, hearing lectures from college professors and working with mentors to start the college application process.

In July and August, we helped document and promote Aspen’s Young Leaders Fellowship program, shooting at various locations on the National Mall in DC, at the Watergate Hotel, at the Kennedy Center, as well as in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood where the Fellows engaged people on the street to learn about gentrification.

Within 24 hours of shooting, we turned around a quick teaser video that Aspen used to promote the event through various social media channels, and then we’d take a little more time to provide polished videos supporting their marketing and promotional goals.

What a year!

Wow!  2016 was a great year here at Rock Creek Productions — not only did we celebrate our 20th year in business, but we had a lot of fun, too.  We traveled to over 30 cities across the United States from Hanover, NH, to Pensacola, FL, from Austin, TX, to San Diego, CA, and Spokane, WA and many in between. We saw a lot of what our country has to offer and worked on some pretty amazing projects, ranging from fire safety and rescue training to cutting edge technology (actual rocket science!) promotions to environmental advocacy.  And even though we were on the road a lot, our studio was well utilized this year and underwent many transformations from newsrooms, to a doctor’s and drafting offices, to police stations, to a 1970s-era apartment complete with a bathroom.  We were also fortunate enough to grow our team with the addition of Mike Chirieleison, Producer/ Editor and Alexis Antonucci, Assitant Editor.

We want to thank all our clients for another amazing year!  We wish everyone the best and look forward to working with you in 2017!

Flexible Studio Space

Rock Creek just wrapped another studio shoot in which we created a mock news report for a National Defense University security exercise.  Here you can see a couple of images of our film production studio — the first showing the space and crew during a rehearsal and the second a screen-shot from the program itself.  Our main studio floor is large, but it offers options that can extend the space even further, as you see here.

Here’s a shot of Carlyncia Peck in front of the camera (with Steve Ray in the background) during a rehearsal; the crew is Jake Mosholder, Steve Agnew, Jonathan Cohen, Donny Aros, and Barbara York (l -r).
